Three Destinations We're Sending Midwest Travelers To Right Now

By ALLSTOP Travel · 8 min read

One of the most common questions we hear at ALLSTOP Travel is simple: "Where should we go next?" The honest answer depends on who's asking — but a few destinations keep landing in our top recommendations for North Dakota and Midwest travelers. They're comfortable to get to, well-suited to the way our clients like to travel, and they deliver on the promise without any of the chaos.

Below are three destinations we're booking heavily this season, with what to know before you go. Want a deeper dive into any one of them? Each links to its full destination guide.

1. Riviera Maya, Mexico — The Easy Win

If you've never worked with a travel advisor before, an all-inclusive week along Mexico's Riviera Maya is the trip that usually makes someone say "why did we ever try to book this ourselves?" Direct flights from MSP, polished resorts in every price tier, and the kind of weather that resets your whole nervous system after a Midwest winter.

Best for: Couples, multi-gen family trips, milestone celebrations, first-timers leaving the country.
When to go: November through April. January and February are peak demand — book six months out.

2. Alaska — The Bucket-List Cruise

Alaska is one of the few destinations where the logistics are the experience. Glaciers calving off the side of the ship, whales surfacing during dinner, ports small enough to walk in an afternoon. We book Alaska sailings out of Seattle and Vancouver, and we love pairing the cruise with a few extra nights on land in Anchorage or Denali.

Best for: First-time cruisers, scenic travelers, multi-generational families, photography lovers.
When to go: Late May through early September.

3. Scotland — Slow Travel That Finally Makes Sense

Scotland is having a moment, and for good reason. Castles, coastal drives, distilleries, and an unhurried pace that pairs beautifully with a small-group itinerary. We're seeing strong demand for late-spring and early-fall departures, and pre-cruise stays in Edinburgh before British Isles sailings.

Best for: Repeat travelers, history and whisky enthusiasts, anyone who wants Europe without the heat.
When to go: May, June, and September.
